Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins and left wing Sergei Samsonov agreed Tuesday to terms on a one-year contract.

"This is great news for us," said GM Mike O'Connell. "Sergei is one of the most creative and dynamic players in the game and he's an exciting player for our fans. He has been a bit unlucky with injuries over the past couple of seasons, but we're confident that those are behind him and we are really looking forward to having his talents for an entire season."

Samsonov, who has spent all seven of his NHL seasons with the Bruins, has played in just 66 games over the past two seasons due to right wrist surgery, a knee sprain and a rib injury.

The 25-year-old Russian was Boston's second pick, eighth overall, in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He was the Rookie of the Year after scoring 22 goals with 25 assists during the 1997-98 campaign.

In 459 games for the Bruins, Samsonov has scored 146 goals with 193 assists.

A no-brainer. Like to know the details (money) of the deal. Solid player, not a franchise one though.
