Newz Forum: HOCKEY: Mark Recchi returns to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Recchi switches teams but stays in Pennsylvania. He returns to the Penguins, the team he started his NHL career with and won 2 Stanley Cups. Recchi led the Flyers in scoring and played in all 82 games last season. Mark is delighted and has signed a multi-year contract. It is looking like Recchi wants to end his career in Pittsburgh along side Super Mario.

PITTSBURGH - Mark Recchi returns to the team with which he started his NHL career after the seven-time All-Star agreed to a multi-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday.

Terms of the contract were not released.

Recchi, 36, led the Philadelphia Flyers in goals (26), assists (49) and points (75) while playing in all 82 games last season. The right wing has scored 20 or more goals in each of the last five seasons and in eight of the past nine. He has recorded 25 or more goals 11 times in his 16-year career.

PITTSBURGH -- Seven-time All-Star Mark Recchi signed a three-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, returning to the city where he started his pro career 16 years ago.

Recchi led Philadelphia in goals, assists and points last season, helping the Flyers reach the Eastern Conference finals. He scored 20 goals or more in each of the last five seasons.

Recchi's agent, Rick Curran, wouldn't provide details on the contract, but said the right wing is "absolutely delighted" to be in Pittsburgh, where he has kept a home for several years.

I think this is a good move by Pittsburgh. Hopefully signing Recchi does not harm their chances of signing other free agents and making money in the comming season. At least Mario now has a well established scorer to pass the puck to.
