After losing the Iron Finn [Anti Laaksonen] to Colorado, the Wild made a huge step in signing 2-way forward Brian Rolston. This is the first major
free agent signing by the Wild this off season.
SportsTicker MINNEAPOLIS - The Minnesota Wild dove head-first into the free agent market Thursday, signing talented center Brian Rolston away from the dwindling
Boston Bruins.
Rolston signed a multi-year deal at undisclosed financial terms.
It was the Wild's first significant free agent signing of the offseason. They had lost checking winger Antti Laaksonen to the Colorado Avalanche.
Rolston brings a little bit of everything to Minnesota. He's missed just one game the past three seasons while remaining one of the NHL's most
versatile players and arguably its best penalty-killer.
Comments:
This is a huge move by the low cost Wild. It looks as though management is ready to make a serious run for the Stanley Cup.
