MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - The Memphis Grizzlies signed second-round draft picks Andre Emmett and Antonio Burks to two-year contracts Wednesday, the team
Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The Grizzlies acquired Emmett, the 35th pick in last month's draft, from the Seattle SuperSonics in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2005 draft
and cash considerations. Burks, the 36th overall selection, was acquired from the Orlando Magic for cash considerations.
Emmett averaged 20.6 points a game as a senior at Texas Tech, where he was named to the All-Big 12 first team three years in a row. He is the Red
Raiders' leading career scorer with 2,256 points.
Burks, a point guard for the University of Memphis, was the Conference USA player of the year last season. He averaged 16 points and 5.5 assists a
game as a senior with the Tigers.
Emmett and Burks are participating in the Grizzlies three-day summer camp that began Wednesday. They also will play in the Summer Pro League in Long
Beach, Calif., starting Saturday and running through July 25.
