SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The Utah Jazz have agreed on a multiyear contract with restricted free agent Carlos Arroyo, their starting point guard last
season.
The agreement announced Wednesday follows commitments made Monday by Utah swingman Gordan Giricek and Detroit Pistons big man Mehmet Okur.
Details of the agreement with Arroyo were not released, but ESPN.com said Arroyo's contract was worth $16 million over four years.
None of the agreements can be signed formalized before next Wednesday, when the summer signing period opens.
Kevin O'Connor, Jazz vice president for basketball operations, said Arroyo, who averaged 12.6 points and 5.0 assists in 71 games as a full-time
starter, was in the league for two years before last season, but didn't play much those two years.
"We thought he did a terrific job for us last year or else we wouldn't be re-signing him,'' O'Connor told the Deseret Morning News.
