SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Free agent center Boyd Devereaux signed a one-year contract plus a club option with the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday.
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Devereaux played the past four seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. He had six goals and nine assists in 61 games last season while playing at both
center and wing.
"We believe that Boyd can take on a more expanded offensive role with our hockey club after having played alongside many future hall of famers in
Detroit," said Coyotes general manager Michael Barnett. "He brings the work ethic that it takes to win consistently in the NHL."
Devereaux has played seven seasons in the NHL since being drafted by Edmonton in the 1996 entry draft. He played three seasons with Edmonton beginning
in 1997 before signing with Detroit as a free agent in 2000.
