MADISON, Wis.(AP) - Former World Boxing Association flyweight champion Eric Morel and two of his brothers were charged Monday with the 2002 sexual
assault of a 15-year-old girl.
Morel, 28, his brother Samuel A. Morel, 36, and his half brother, Frederick O. Santos-Perez, were each charged with second-degree sexual assault of a
child in a Dec. 1, 2002 incident. The girl was reportedly intoxicated and unconscious.
Another girl told police she saw Santos-Perez apparently having sex with the girl while Eric Morel stood by the bed at a Fitchburg residence following
a night of drinking. She said she later saw several men standing around her friend, who was passed out on the bed. She said some of the men were
naked.
A sexual assault exam found DNA from the three men in semen samples take from the girl and the clothes she was wearing the night of the alleged
attack.
The report said Eric Morel adamantly denied to police that he had ex with the girl or had been naked in front of her.
Morel's attorney Victor Arellano did not answer calls from The Associated Press late Monday afternoon.
Morel was scheduled to make an initial court appearance July 15.
Morel lost his title of five years in December after being defeated by Venezuelan Lorenzo Parra.
