LOS ANGELES (AP) - The New York Yankees traded struggling left-hander Gabe White back to the Cincinnati Reds for minor league pitcher Charlie Manning.
The Reds also receive a player to be named and cash from the Yankees as part of the deal.
White was 0-1 with an 8.27 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Yankees this season. He was acquired from Cincinnati for cash at the trade deadline
Manning, a left-hander, was 4-4 with a 5.12 ERA in 13 games for Double-A Chattanooga this season. He has held right-handed batters to a .188 average.
He is 29-20 with a 3.80 ERA in 90 games in the minors. He was originally selected by the Yankees in the ninth round of the 2001 draft, then traded to
the Reds last July along with left-hander Brandon Claussen for third baseman Aaron Boone.
Manning will be assigned to Double-A Trenton.
