The United States Grand Prix will remain on the Formula One calendar for at least the next two years. Indianapolis owner Tony George and F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone have exercised an option to extend their contract by two years to 2006.

But both want to sign a longer deal, Ecclestone said on Saturday.

"I said to Tony: 'We're happy if you're happy. If you don't want me to pick the option up, I won't. If you want to extend the contract, I will," he said.

"We're going to make it work. I'm committed. He's happy with it and we should continue like that.

"I left [the length of the contract] to him. We have that sort of relationship."

George said: "It's certainly our intention to keep this going."
