DEN BOSCH, Netherlands - Klara Koukalova won her first semifinal on grass Friday after Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain retired with a stomach ailment
at the Ordina Open.
Rain washed out the other semifinal between Mary Pierce of France and Russian Lina Krasnoroutskaya with the score tied 2-2. Only two of the men's
quarterfinal matches were completed.
Medina Garrigues, who sat out most of the 2002 season with a torn knee ligament, was trailing 7-5, 3-0 when she called it quits.
Michael Llodra of France defeated Raemon Sluiter of the Netherlands 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-3, while fourth-seeded Tommy Robredo beat Fernando Verdasco
7-6 (5), 6-2.
Officials postponed the match between top-seeded Guillermo Coria of Argentina and Frenchman Arnaud Clement until Saturday, along with the contest
between Martin Verkerk and Mario Ancic of Croatia.
