Wimbledon, England (AP) - American James Blake pulled out of Wimbledon 2004 on Friday, as he continues to recover from injuries.
The world No. 39 Blake hurt his neck and spine after slamming into a net post while practicing in Rome last month. He is replaced in the Wimbledon
draw by 132nd-ranked Italian Potito Starace.
The lucky-loser Starace, who lost in Wimbledon qualifying, beat 10th-seeded Sebastien Grosjean at the French Open and held a match point against 2000
U.S. Open champ and 2004 Australian Open runner-up Marat Safin before losing to the big Russian in five sets at Roland Garros.
Wimbledon commences Monday at the All England Club.
