Commonwealth Games gold medallist Darren Barker has decided to turn professional after failing to qualify for this summer's Olympic Games.
Barker struggled in qualification after stepping up in weight because his light-middleweight division has been scrapped from the amateur programme.
"The transition isn't easy but I have an opportunity thousands dream of and I am not going to waste it," Barker said.
"I don't want to be over-protected and I don't want any fake titles."
The 21-year-old from Barnet has joined Mick Hennessy's promotional stable.
