St. Peters, MO (AP) - Troy Dumais will compete in the three-meter springboard competition at the Athens Olympics after the 24-year old took first place in the event Friday at the 2004 Olympic Trials.

Dumais, who totaled 1,151.37 points, will be participating in his second Olympics. The Ventura, California native finished sixth at the 2000 Sydney Games in the three-meter springboard and fourth in the synchronized springboard.

Justin Wilcock also earned a spot on the U.S. squad after placing second at the trials with 1,117.38 points. The 25-year old from The Woodlands, Texas moved past Phillip Jones for the final berth in the springboard.

Jones, who finished with 1,073.13 points, stood second after the preliminary round.

Dumais already qualified in the three-meter synchro for the 2004 Summer Games along with his older brother, Justin.

The U.S. men will be looking to improve on their performance in 2000, when the squad failed to medal in any diving events.
