Columbus, OH (AP) - PGA Tour player Joe Ogilvie secured one of seven available spots for the U.S. Open on Tuesday in his sectional qualifier at
Brookside Golf and Country Club.
Bo Van Pelt, Bob Estes, Dan Olsen, Eric Axely, Jeff Gove and Justin Hicks also earned spots in the field next week at Shinnecock Hills.
There was a 10-man playoff that was completed Tuesday morning when play was suspended Monday for darkness. Rich Massey, Robert Sowards and Todd Demsey
were the three players eliminated from the competition.
Also on Tuesday, Scott Hend of Australia picked up the final spot available at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, New Jersey. Matthew Cannon, former
U.S. Amateur champion Ricky Barnes, Peter Fowler and Steve Pate are alternates for the U.S. Open after they were bounced by Hend is Tuesday morning's
playoff.
