A wrist injury has forced world number two Kim Clijsters to pull out of Wimbledon. The world number two was also forced to pull out of the French Open
after failing to recover from a torn tendon.
"It's healing slowly but there's no way I would be able to give myself a chance of competing there at the level I need to be at," she said. Clijsters
had been in good form until her injury, winning back-to-back tournments in Paris and Antwerp. But her coach Marc Dehous told VRT radio "Now a cyst has
developed on the wrist that means that we can kiss Wimbledon goodbye."
Clijsters had been due to compete at next week's Hastings Direct International Championships at Eastbourne.
She will be replaced as top seed by French Open winner Anastasia Myskina.
