The super-middleweight champion was taken to a police station and released on bail following an allegation of threatening behaviour.
The alleged incident took place on 27 May at Calzaghe's home in Cwmbran, south Wales.
The arrest comes weeks before Calzaghe, 32, moves up in weight to challenge for the world light-heavyweight title.
Gwent Police said Calzaghe was arrested and later released on police bail.
Inspector Michael Vaughan: "Gwent police can confirm that officers were called to an incident in the Cwmbran area on Thursday, 27 May.
"A man was arrested in connection with an allegation of threatening behaviour and has subsequently been released without charge on police bail pending
Calzaghe, who has held the World Boxing Organisation super-middleweight title since dethroning Chris Eubank in 1997, was awarded the MBE in the
Queen's Birthday Honours list last year.
The Newbridge-based boxer has won all 37 of his professional bouts and defended his world title 14 times.
Calzaghe is due to fight US-based Jamaican Glen Johnson for the International Boxing Federation light heavyweight title at Manchester's MEN Arena on
12 June in what is regarded as one of the biggest fights of his career.
