Undefeated Leo "Paco" Nolan outpointed Lou Savarese on Friday night and claimed the International Boxing Association Continental Americas heavyweight
title.
Two judges scored the fight 116-112, and the third judge had it 115-13 for Nolan, who improved to 22-0.
Savarese (43-6), a New Yorker who now lives in Houston, lost his second straight bout. He was fighting for the first time since March 2003, when he
was knocked out in the first round by Kirk Johnson.
Nolan, of Detroit, went 12 rounds for the first time in his career. He won a unanimous decision over Ken Murphy on April 4.
