POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Unbeaten welterweight Chris Smith will defend his North American Boxing Association title against Vinroy Barrett in a
12-round fight June 4 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, promoters announced.
The 29-year-old Smith (17-0-1) won the title two years ago and has defended it twice with TKOs over Marlon Haynes, Sam Garr and Frankie Sanchez. The
Queens boxer decisioned Darien Ford in April.
Barrett (20-3), based in Nashville, dropped decisions last year to Chance Leggett and Carlos Quintana. The 29-year-old native of Jamaica won by
disqualification over Jerry Smith in his last outing.
The still incomplete card in Poughkeepsie includes welterweight Joshua Clotty (25-1) of New York City, heavyweight Fernely Feliz (20-4) of Danbury,
Ct., junior middleweight Leonard Pierre (14-0) of nearby Catskill, cruiserweight Ehinomen "Hino" Ehikhamenor (3-0) of Brooklyn, heavyweight Joe Riley
of nearby Newburgh in his pro debut and featherweight Darren Williams (0-1) of Poughkeepsie.
Their opponents were not immediately announced.
