West Indies captain Brian Lara will attempt to make
history again on Monday when he resumes on 313 not out in the final Test against England. In the latest Update West Indies captain Brian Lara moves to
359 on the third morning of the Antigua Test, chasing Australian Matthew Hayden's world record of 380.
Brian Lara closed in on another world record and virtually ended
England's hopes of completing an historic whitewash after ending his run drought in emphatic style in the final Test at the Recreation Ground.West
Indies' talisman and captain had scored just 100 runs in the opening three Tests as England claimed their first series win in the Caribbean since 1968
and even had his ability to still perform at this level questioned in the build-up to the Antigua finale.Lara is already the first man since Sir Don
Bradman to get two scores of at least 300 in Tests. Now he can reclaim a record that was his for nine years. Exactly 10 years ago, Lara plundered
England for 375 on this ground. But in October 2003 Hayden went five runs better in a stunning performance against Zimbabwe in Perth.
