Roy Halladay probably
doesn't need to be convinced that this Detroit Tigers team is much better than than last year's 119-loss version.
With Ivan Rodriguez and Rondell White - two free agent additions - providing pop in the middle of the lineup and new ace Jason Johnson pitching six
scoreless innings, the Tigers rolled to a 7-0 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in the season opener for both teams.
The reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, Halladay had a 9-1 career record against Detroit, including a 3-0 mark with a 0.69 ERA last
season. But this time he yielded solo homers to Carlos Pena and Rodriguez and a three-run shot to White.Meanwhile, the Blue Jays managed just four
hits off Johnson, another free agent addition who played with Baltimore from 1999-2003 and had a 1-8 career record against Toronto.
