Pacquiao treated like a Hollywood star in LA
LOS ANGELES – Manny Pacquiao has become a big attraction at the Wild Card Gym, attracting droves of fans in his second day of training at Freddie
Roach’s famous sweat shop in Hollywood.
The Filipino boxing hero’s one-and-a-half-hour, one-on-one session with Roach atop the ring had barely ended when fans, among them 15 Filipinos who
came in three groups, started gathering around Pacquiao hoping to get his autograph and their picture taken with him.
It led strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune to ask Pacquiao, partly in jest, "Are you a boxer or a movie star?"
Pacquiao graciously acceded to all the requests even as Filipino trainers Buboy Fernandez and Lito Mondejar whispered in his ear that the training
session wasn’t over yet and that the sweat in his well-chiseled body was starting to dry up.
Roach watched the spectacle from a distance but later expressed concern, saying there is little time to waste with Pacquiao’s May 8 bout against
reigning IBF/ WBA featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico barely seven weeks away.
