The future of England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was again under scrutiny on Saturday amid unsubstantiated reports he met Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon this week. The Sun have published pictures which the newspaper claims show the Swede visiting Kenyon's west London home on Thursday evening.

The report follows a meeting between Eriksson and Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich in July last year.Eriksson's contract runs through to the 2006 World Cup but the FA have already opened negotiations over a two-year extension.Current Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri is expected to leave at the end of the season as Abramovich seeks a more high-profile figure to go with the 130million he has spent on players. The Football Association says it knows nothing of the meeting. But a spokesman told the BBC that the FA intended to speak with Eriksson as soon as possible. Eriksson has consistently denied he is interested in leaving England despite speculation linking him with a host of clubs including Real Madrid.Kenyon has denied the meeting took place, suggesting that the photos are fabricated or are from his time in charge at Manchester United.Eriksson is due to name a squad on Saturday evening for Wednesday's match against Sweden.

Sven-Goran Eriksson was on Saturday night coming under increasing pressure to reveal his long-term plans as talks took place between the England coach and the Football Association following a renewed link with Chelsea.Eriksson insisted that he has "no offers from any club", although he has admitted that continuing speculation over his future could prove a distraction to his team ahead of the Euro 2004 finals. The England coach has always maintained that he is under contract with the FA until 2006 and will remain in place beyond the Euro 2004 finals, even though he is known to miss club football.

However, several leading FA figures have become increasingly frustrated at his failure to accept the contract extension which has been offered to him.Initial talks over that contract offer, which include a significant pay rise, took place at a lunch between Eriksson, Palios and FA vice-chairman David Dein nine days ago.

Sven-Goran Eriksson agreed a two-year extension to his England contract on Sunday and then vowed to see it out.Eriksson, who was already contracted up to the 2006 World Cup, is now committed through to the 2008 European Championships. And the Swede was emphatic in insisting that he will not be tempted to break his new deal, whoever comes calling in the future.Eriksson was forced to declare his hand after he was photographed in a secret meeting with Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon on Thursday night and has also been linked with Real Madrid and Inter Milan. The England coach defended his right, as an ambitious manager, to sound out other job opportunities but, when pressed, was adamant that he would not be lured back into club management before 2008 now he has committed himself to England until then.
