My cousin knows a korean spec. ops. guy who was accepted by the french foreign legions. He claims that the legions only accepts the best troops from each country and trains them, and that their method of training is very dangerous. Is that true?

With that said I think the hardest u.s. training is the Delta Force.

My 2 cents

Spetnatz train harder than ANYBODY! (They are more likely to die in training than in a live op)
SAS/SBS
Korean "White Skulls"
SeAL/Force Recon they often train together.(I imagine Delta other US elite train on a more or less equal standard)

Spetnaz, from what I've seen, are the best, possibly...
in terms of how much the instructers are arseholes and how frustrating it must be mentally..
I still think SBS is the most physically enduring in terms of actual requirements, and to some degrees mentally
I dont rate any US SF training in comparison.... Any of them require you to do a 75 mile (or is it KM) walk for selection??
Or swim 2x the length of an olympic swimming pool without breathing? and completely underwater?

here is also of the secrey part with grom none of the soldiers in any GROM unit can be photographed with their faces being visible this is a countermeasure implimented for their safety to hide their idetities . so why do the seals always smile for their pics

media.militaryphotos.net...

thats also a great site with pics from the war in iraq.

also I found an english link concerning GROM with those not to familiar with the sqaud.

I'm not sure but I think the the US Delta Force is the toughest. This Elite Unit was design for the counter-terrorism mission. I heard some where that they recuit their Commandos from the ranks of other US special forces units( including Marine Force Recon).

Well, so does the GROM,
GROM is a fully professional unit. GROM members are former soldiers and officers of:
-6th Air Assault Bde
-1st Ind. Special Regiment
-Special Companies (canceled in early 90's - one of strange decissions of polish gov.)
-UDT from Polish Navy
- AT squads from Police, UOP and similar units
-Intelligence

THE BEST, they are at least as good as your DELTA, if not better.

kiosk.onet.pl...
An interview with colonel Roman Polko, GROM's CO. For polish readers only, unfortunately, but heres an extract:

Why GROM commandos don't reveal their names or let their photos be taken?
For their own safety. Actually, the only person from the family who knows that they work in GROM are their wifes. For children, family, friends a "legend" is made up.

When will data on special operations be declassified?
What can be declassified, will be, in the right time. Usually after, not before the operation (personal note: wow, that makes sense). About some, you wont hear at all. Remember: some WW2 archives are not yet revealed.

So, of how many GROM operations does the public know?
A few. We must remember that going to a specific area isnt the op itself, what happens in the area is. Besides, most media relations on our ops have nothing to do with reality, and we, because of security considerations, dont make rectifications. Nothing exept what has already been written about polish special units can be written at all.

Describe shortly, who a GROM commando is?
A professional. Stabilised in life, self-confident, aware of the risks taken in his job and the requirement of upgrading his qualifications. Aged about 32, with a high school degree, courses taken to specialise themselves in their job finisht on the master level. Familiar with international missions.

What is he capable of?
Risking his own health, even life to protect polish citizens- victims of terrorist.

Shortest description of the unit?
Efficient.

Some say you achieved the level of Delta and 22. SAS regiment. Others say no. Do you believe you are the best? Or do you need more training?
I believe that those who say no set a high value on us. I have no intention to take care of thisWe play in one team with our allies and the game is going very well. Of course, we need to keep training, new challanges appear and this inflicts our actions.

Yeah No!.

The Corps has Recon and Force Recon aswell as other elite units. We don't just give out our Marines to other services. You must be talking about SOCOM or something like it. Where the best of the best are at and they tend to have unit training with different services.

NAVY SEALS and GERMAN KAMPFTAUCHER - they train together and work together.

And what makes them best? That you can't read every f00king detail on webpage
- come on. A special operation team and you can read it all on webpages?

Feh.

Sissies all.

The TOUGHEST job is mother. The next toughest is public school teacher. I wanna see those sissies run in and change some of those nasty diapers on a daily basis while doing dishes and cleaning house and ... oh yeah... holding down a full-time job.

Preferably as a public school teacher. No weapons, can't use aggression... just you and your subject matter against 200 students and parents and the administration.

There is a difference between the toughest training and the best training.

Best training I would go for the SAS. Their training makes the best all round soldier.

Toughest training I would go with Spetnatz.
I heard those guys wind down by playing basketball in full body armour.

They are allowed to do a pre-defined gymnastic every 4(?) hours which lasts exactly 15min.
No joke!

Back to training and ops. I think we can all agree that we won't be able to find an appropriate scale to measure which are best trained or even best in operations. Why that? Because they are specops and it is meant to be like that

So let's agree that every cool country has his nice specops.

Meanwhile they have split up into two different teams. One is the GSG-9 a special anti-terror squad and on the other side something like the Navy Seals in big. Several thousand man all running through the training that was meant just for a few. Because of a lack of money germany is changing from a mass army(it never was but at least it was an "army") to a "small" special ops army. Quality than mass

They are called "Kommando Spezialkrfte" - "Commando Specialforces".

i thought israel was suppose to have some hardcore spec ops. and i doubt that the "toughest" spec op unit would come from the western world, b/c it's considered to "unhumane" to kill people b/c i've heard that some foreign countries kill ppl in training to weed out the weak now thats hardcore

(Russian probably knew this already
)

Anyways, SEAL Bud/S is tough, if not the toughest, hell week is insane. I don't know too much about the SpetNaz training, but I would have to say SEAL training.

when you terrorize terrorists then they dont want to mess with you again.:up"

Thats what I think US troops should do.

That way the terrorists would be scare to fall into the hands of the US troops.

But right now they are babysitted when cought.

I agree Russian, America treats the people who terrorize there country kind and give them a good life style really, Wouldnt surprise me if they were pampered with a very special American Forces Salon
