Juan Pierre will miss just a few days of workouts because of a dislocated right pinkie finger.Pierre was examined by team hand specialist Dr. Brian Fingado on Monday, and the Florida Marlins said their center field will miss no more than five days of workouts. If tests had revealed ligament damage or a more serious injury, Pierre could have been sidelined for six weeks or more.

Last year's stolen base leader with 65, Pierre jammed his pinkie on the left cleat of Mets shortstop Gil Velazquez in the first inning of Sunday's Spring Training game at Roger Dean Stadium. An X-ray on Sunday confirmed a dislocation, but most importantly, no break to the bone. The Marlins open on April 6 against the Expos at Pro Player Stadium. In three-plus Major League seasons with the Rockies and Marlins, Pierre has never been on the disabled list. The left-handed-hitting and throwing Pierre twice before dislocated his left pinkie sliding head-first. Both times, he was able to pop the joint back into place, and he missed little time
