The New York Jets, who are expected to release Vinny Testaverde, have signed quarterback Ricky Ray.The 24-year-old has spent the last two seasons in
the CFL with the Edmonton Eskimos. He completed 348-of-502 passes for 4,640 yards and 35 touchdowns and led the Eskimos to the Grey Cup championship
The 6-3, 210-pound Ray signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2001 after playing collegiately at Sacramento State. He did
not appear in any games for the 49ers and spent part of the 2001 season in the Arena2 league.

position.The Jets said on Thursday that Testaverde will not participate in offseason workouts, a clear indication that the veteran quarterback will
not return after six seasons.
If Testaverde does retire, he will follow guard Dave Szott out of the game.The 36-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Jets after playing 12
years with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was limited to four games due to a torn ACL in 2002, but started 15 games last season.A New Jersey native, the
6-4, 289-pound Szott played 177 games in the regular season and 12 more in the playoffs after being selected by Kansas City in the seventh round of
the 1990 draft.
