Associated Press - February 2, 2004

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Six fighters and the manager of a seventh told the FBI they were paid up to $10,000 each to lose fights to a heavyweight boxer who was being groomed as a top contender, according to court documents.

The boxers said they agreed to take dives to help pad the record of Richie "The Bull'' Melito, a New York fighter whose listed record is 27-1 with 25 knockouts.
