Liverpool could pull off a shock move and add defender Taribo West to the squad to bolster their defence.Partizan Belgrade defender West's future is in doubt after a major bust-up with the club after breaking club discipline on several occasions, and they are willing to let him go.

Despite all this it looks like Houllier is willing to take him to Liverpool,he holds him in high reguard and it's not the first time they have been linked with a move for him.West has played in The Premiership before in a short spell for Derby County and he did look quite impressive,he is also attracting interest from the likes of Bolton Wanderers and Wolverhampton Wanderers.West's contract with Partizan expires in the summer, but they will be willing to sell him now to get a fee rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.

They must be getting desperate,i don't rate him.Looks like they are going after another Rigobert Song.

But what with Dietmar Hamann's admission that he may return to Germany if Liverpool fail to offer him a new contract it has sparked interest from two Bundesliga's top clubs.

Looks like they were serious after all but Liverpool's attempts to pull off the surprise signing of Partizan Belgrade defender Taribo West have floundered.
Gerard Houllier was believed to be keen to secure the experienced African in order to provide competition in defence at Anfield, but the Frenchman's hopes of completing a cut-price deal were dashed.
