Instead of washing the dishes off and then putting them in the dishwasher we put them on the floor and the dog licks the stuff off. Then we dont have to feed him. Its faster and hes not hungry.

It sounds a little weird but if you wear sunglasses when you chop onions, you shouldn't cry.

Keep some Bi-carbonate of soda in the fridge....or sprinkle it on the bottom.....takes away smells from inside the fridge....eg any tuna or fish you have ..

Also next time you clean the fridge, it wipes away easier if anything has been spilt!

Use white vinegar and the soda(this will foam up) for a clean kitchen anywhere...benches, floors etc.....NO TOXIC FUMES IN THE KITCHEN....UNLIKE SOME HARSH CHEMICALS OUT THERE!

Speaking of onions....
After handling raw onions or garlic, your hands smell pretty stinky.
Take a clean, stainless steel spoon or fork (just the kind you eat dinner with!) and rub it all over your hands.
Takes the stinkyness away like magic!

I think if you wear contact lenses the onion won't make you cry. That spoon trick is pretty cool. Who would've guessed? This is more about trash in the kitchen, but if you tie the end of your trash bag into a knot so that part of it sticks out you can grab the bag by that tied off "handle."

Oh yeah if you boil hot water it boils faster, i think.

Soak them in cold water, for about 10 minutes or so, before you cut them....you'll be amazed at how much it eliminates the tearing.....

Bite down on a piece of bread while you're cutting them. It sounds wierd but, it works.

I'll have to try that, it happens to me all the time and it's damn annoying when the smell lingers on your hands for days. I find red onions and garlic are the worst for that.

So, JAH, how'd the onions come out?

Good for the taste, good for the health...
Doctors call it the mediteranean diet !

In France, we use to say that CHAMPAGNE is the best aphrodisiac drink ever...

To make a "pumpy" omelet, I add a bit of beer.

To cut the "foie gras", take a sharp knife and put it a warm water before cutting your portion.

Oyster are better with a bit of echalotes and lemon, on a slice of full weath flour bread.

You can add a bit of wyskey or cognac in the cocktail shrimp sauce (mayonnaise + ketchup).

Try burning a candle right near the place you are cutting it--safety googles--or an enclosed chopper--or frozen diced onions in your freezer case.

1. Don't fry bacon naked.

2. Be very careful where you put your fingers after you have chopped habaneros.

3. Kitchen countertops are for food preparation.

Are all 3 of these related somehow, MA?

Another "tip:"
Garlic juice in a spray bottle is great to keep on hand. You can get this at most grocery stores or, failing that, here.
