Quite a bit fishy. The crappy cell phone vid didnt provide much quality. I think there is more to it than that. Maybe deliberately filmed by a phone cam?

he was tried in a world court, and the video documentation was digital, and not Imax digital either, thats messed up.

this sounds like the Nick Burge video, unproven footage.

i guess i have to go look for, it. it kinda makes me feel cheap, i wish was available. besides, i thought hangings were public. guess iv'e seen too many movies.

This was an Iraqi operation. It was an iraqi court that sentenced him to death and it was carried out by iraqis. There wasn't even an American in the building when he was hung. The judge had to get approval from the Iraqi president to hang him during a holy day.

It was all Iraqi. Nothing American about it.

It's how things are done in the Islamic countries of the Middle East. What you are feeling is just a clash of cultures. You are used to Europe not allowing the death penalty at all, and America taking 20 years to put someone to death because of the endless appeals process here.

It's just that you are not accustomed to that culture and it's way of handling the death penalty ... that's all. Your 'feeling in your bones' is just cultural and psychological... not conspiratoral.

i saw david copperfield (an american) make the statue of liberty disappear on tv - that was taped also and most of the world saw that.

nowadays, just because you 'see' something on tv doesn't necessarily make it 'real'.

you saw someone pulled out of a hole (during a time when figs were not supposed to be growing in iraq as the were on the footage btw) but unless you personally took a dna sample from that person and tested it whilst never letting it out of your sight and then tested the person being hanged under the same conditions, then there is no way to know for sure either way. i doubt we will ever know for sure.

To all those who say it wasnt the real saddam, uh, didn't they have the dna from his dead sons to do a comparison? Didn't they confirm that it was him?

I have a problem with the overcoat and the noose that looked like it was sitting over a very thick collar or scarf of some sort. Like the collar may prevent the noose from tightening and therefore not being effective.

Do you think that a man who is about to be hung would have his neck exposed more than that ? I thought that having his neck all snug like that looked a bit suspicious.

Maybe he wore the long coat so that when his bladder and bowels gave way he would be spared some shame.

As to whether or not it this the real Saddam Hussein...I am unsure but would not be in the least bit surprised if the person who hung was a double.

I feel sorry for anyoen that thinks he died in 2003, or is still alive. The US could have done more with their time than stage a mock trial for a peasant, who willingily gave up his life, and for what?

why would his hanging be staged?....what would be the motive?

the videos show saddam clear a day being hanged.
so what if he looks different from a pic or video from a year ago people's looks change..

and suppose he is alive ..where is he? is he on some kind of island paradise or something...

i see no point in keeping him alive.

if you were watching news many people were angry saddam was hanged... perhaps somone 'took the fall' for saddam so the real saddam could live. maybe in secrecy

DNA test.

There's so much of the whole Saddam capture story that doesn't make sense. Why would a billionaire with the entire resources of an oil rich country the size of Texas at his disposal hide in a tiny hole with barely a weeks supply of food? Saddam either ran off to Syria and is hanging with his Bathist buddies, perhaps ran to Russia, or was killed trying to do so.

To me the pictures of Saddam while in power, and the one in captivity are not of the same person.

One thing is certain in todays high tech world, a video is proof of nothing.

He's still alive. I bought a pack of smokes from him today. He's better than ever.

Did Sadam really swing from the gallows? looking at both the Iraqi tv footage & the mobile phone footage, I have not been convinced the guy truly died. there was al ot of loose rope at the noose area & it looked like the rope itself was eyed through a wheel winch in the roof, which had considerable length on the far side. I just don't know. my senses tell me the guy was aided by the CIA for years & that just makes me question the legitimacy of a so called hanging which in my books is not clear it occurred the way we were supposed to believe it happened. Could there have been a mattress beneath the gallows where he stood? What does the video footage actually prove?

The chanting, mocking dudes at the execution showed that clearly.

That bitter feud between Muslim sects and ethnic groups that is all part of what has been unleashed in Iraq.

I don't doubt that the people who did the Hanging wanted Saddam dead.
If it turned out to be a double, well, there were people would would be quite willing to die for him too. To die for your Great Leader would be a great honor for such a person.

I knew that somebody on this site would come up with this stupid conspiracy. He is dead. You have seen videos of him being captured, videos of him in court for years and the video of him being hung! What more evidence can you demand? I mean seriously! You can look up a video of the guy being hung! Why did the Americans pretend to kill him?
