It is strange:

I never read or heard anything that in Medieval years that executioners gave instructions to their victims just before their time. Besides, does a victim, standing before noose, need any instructions? Saddam knows the procedure, including all these executions he ordered when he was in service.

Spots:
CameronFox's video

I noticed the man's hand. This gesture can be translated: Nothing is going to happen (20-22 track seconds)

An other point is that camera does not allow a face to be seen! Notice that at the beginning (3-37 track second when he disappears).

Also, the executioners guide him as a mother whould help her child do its first steps! If a man like him was in my country the sure is that he would have different behaviour: slapping him all the way till the gallows. Perhaps, i over exagerate

My last point is that at VoXiSo's video, after the hanging, the cameraman waits 15 seconds till he shows Saddam's face!
Big deal! All Iraqiis were waiting for that moment and you late 15 seconds? Why?
Maybe the rest of the attendees were getting him up the pillows
lol

My statement is: Progress means to go ahead. Executions turn us back to medieval years. This is sad, how history repeat itself.

Even though you have provided many links to this hanging thing.

I still find it disgusting - even though the man is a murder - I find it trivial sad that our humanity can't come up with anything better than killing.

I ain't gonna press the link or download any of those videos - because i find it disgusting to see a human being killed.

If the leaders of this porn-world - want peace - they could have it in a week. But they don't And it's utterly disgusting to see a human being being sent to hell - because of a system that wont communicate on any other term than the call for money.

good thread anyway.
what ever makes you happy.

I viewed the hanging on Google, simply because as a young child I was subjected to watching a serviceman and an arab woman being beheaded on television that must have been when they changed the law. Compared to the beheadings Saddams death was more brutal before and after the hanging and not the hanging itself.

I was more aghast that somebody could be brutally attacked before and after a hanging. I would have thought being put to death was suffering enough for any person, but to be taunted, spat upon and kicked was to me more brutal than the actual hanging. From the looks of it, he went quick. His death was very quick, where moments before must have seemed endless.

I can understand that his executioners must have had family members killed in similiar circumstances at Saddams hands, which would explain the brutality, but Hitler did far worse than Saddam and got to meet his end at his own hands.

Then again, Hitler and Saddam are not too far removed from one another committing atrocities on their own people that they govern.

I lived studied in America and these type of hangings took place in public in the days of the Old West. Brutality is brutality no matter which we you cut it.

Saddam was wrong in the way he treated his people and he should have been removed 20 years earlier. The man was 70 and no doubt was not in the best of health anyway.

I think what I am saying and feeling is justice against Saddam should have been served right after the genocide attack on the Kurds, where he gassed those villagers for no other reason than being Kurds. The evidence of what he had done went out on television globally. I can also remember as a child seeing the dead of children not far removed from myself. I wondered from that moment on why he was allowed to stay in power. Why didn't they do something then? Why did they wait so long to serve justice on a brutal man and wait until he was weakened before they done something about him?

See in my mind, they hung a man that had literally reached the end of his life. He lost all his property as a man nearing 70. There really wasn't much more that could be done to him at 70, as his health would have taken it's toll anyway.

He should have been placed before the courts when he was healthy and fit. Judgement should have been carried out when he was a much stronger man, and not a feeble man.

I guess that the reason I feel this way, is my dad is 70. Although, relatively healthy at 70, he really isn't a threat. However, he served in the military when he was much younger.

Basically, Saddam lost his power over the people. It would have had more of an affect on him if he had been captured at a younger age. To me then the true sense of justice would have been served to the full and if it was done soon after those poor villagers lost their lives to his brutality.

I guess what I am saying as a result of watching the hanging; I witnessed a feeble man, who was of no real threat, being taunted before and after hanging, which to me was worse than the hanging itself, which went quickly.

Again, I must reiterate, the feelings of his executioners were not unbiased. Maybe they felt what they did was right and made up for some of the suffering them and their families endured while he was in power.

It is just a shame that they could not stand up against the man when he started those atrocities. Why couldn't they have gathered together then and dealt with their tormentor rather than waiting until he was weak and feeble which he obviously was in the time leading up to his death.

After watching that video, the one thing I find striking is how utterly calm Saddam is. You'd think a man facing his moment of death would show more emotion, even fear, something, weak in the knees, anything but what he is seen doing.

Perhaps it is his strong Islamic faith? Or maybe he was totally resigned to his death.

The way he looks at his executioners and converses with them, it almost seems more like a rehearsal for the hanging than the actual event.

Without seeing the actual hanging, I'm afraid many will rightly question the claims of Saddam's death.

Very true. However he already accepted his death. He was talking badly about the other's up until his death. Evil man or Good man, he was strong. If you can face your death and not cry and whimper...

OR it was a body double the whole time

OR he really was hung and there is no conspiracy here (I think i'll side with this one)

Some interesting information about the very final moments of Saddam's execution and the second leaked video, showing the moment of the hanging.

The video, first broadcast by Al Jazeera on Sunday, was captured on a mobile phone when Saddam was executed on Saturday.

Someone among the witnesses can be heard praising Muhammad Bakr al-Sadr, the founder of the Shia Dawa party and an uncle of Muqtada al-Sadr, who was executed in 1980 by Saddam.

"God damn you," a guard said.

"God damn you," replied Saddam.

Saddam appeared to smile at those taunting him from below the gallows. He said they were not showing manhood.

Then Saddam began reciting the Shahada, a Muslim prayer that says there is no god but God and Muhammad is his messenger, according to an unabridged copy of the video clip, which was posted on a website.

You’ve got to admit the hooded masks made those hangmen look a bit like terrorists?
And the current Iraqi government is full of sectarian differences, terrorists and those with the mindset of terrorists.
If it’s supposed to drive home any kind of example to Iraqis then I wonder what that example may be.

“Video the execution of your enemies when you believe you’re righteous” Is my interpretation of it.

Nevertheless I'm sure all fellow Westerners who believe those “poor simplistic” Iraqis feared the return of Saddam, will be greatly reassured (so perhaps those killed today and tomorrow directly because of this execution will be worth it?)

The Present And the Future…
Whenever the failure of our actions sincerely demands a solution (in the minds of those that rule us) then we must find someone like Saddam to replace Saddam.
Because “Saddam is dead; long lives the need for Saddam” is both the flaw of our ideology and reality which truly troubles us and our options.
We will need a pro-western government in the end which cannot be made un-western by those within. To some who disagree with me “time will tell” but to those who really agree with me “time will merely confirm”.

Once upon a time the death of Saddam would have made a difference. Whether that difference would have been favourable is highly disputable. But it’s our shame that the situation is un favourable and that the execution is merely neutral at best; and a self withstraining step at minimum.
And when people (educated about the context of Saddam and the Iraq he led
still say his execution “was right” it kind of makes a mockery out Saddam’s November the 5th letter which asks Iraqis not to hate the people of the West.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
Fortunately there are few Western citizens who meet both those requirements; and hence the fine wisdom remains in what Saddam said.

P.S I think Saddam looked more dignified than any of our leaders would in that situation (perhaps someday this could be put to the test?).
Anyway he’s done very really well to improve his Arab standing ever since he was captured in that hole. The court case performance was good; and it showed Iraqis can’t deliver justice even if the accused is guilty (of at least some things). The case also helped Saddam set the record state, and overall I think it improved his standing not least by subliminally reminding Iraqis they were richer and safer under him.
Also the long period it was conducted over allowed Saddam (being Saddam) to urge useful things like how Iraqis should not hate the people of West; only they’re rulers. This is a massive improvement from hating everybody (as many religious fundamentalists would have you believe).

Well I have no doubt Saddam will be in heaven; and although in my opinion what we have done is highly shameful; I'm glad that he had nearly 70 years on this earth to come full circle (spirituality too; that is).

Conspiracy Disarray
Some people say Saddam is still alive. I retort back “so too is Elvis Presley”.
If only our leaders where that logical they would have the best of both worlds (apart from all the killing because people think he is dead). Sadly I think you overestimate them; they aren’t going to let him live, by rejecting the pro-westernizing force of Ba’th Party ideology they have shown themselves to be allied to Arab destruction, not progress; likewise they have shown themselves to be allied to Arab destruction even more than they are allied to the ideologies of the West.

I think a huge mistake was to let him go in such a badass way...

the man was still talking sh*t up until the noose snapped his neck. If you notice, he is still talking EVEN when the door opens. I think we can agree if normal people like you and me had to talk in this situation, we'd all jump (as in get startled) the second the door opened and wed stop talking.

By allowing the executioners to remain masked, and Saddam not to have a mask, he kept his dignity and his message lives on through his supporters. Bad move Iraqi government, bad move...

I bet this is going to get really ugly...

Dignity?

You have a far different idea of dignity than most, I think, and what message would you be speaking of? Mass murder is cool?

How's this for dignity?

Hes right, the hangmen looked no different than Al-qaeda in Iraq's boys when they appear in hostage videos executing people.

And the way they did it, the Iraqi executioners and govt, was horrible timing. On the morning of Eid al-Adha, the Feast of the Sacrifice?

They effectively Sacrificed a human being instead of a cow as the usual sacrifice on Eid. Regardless of who it was, that is the biggest of insults to muslims.

Thats like.. despicable. The Sunnis are going to hate them even more now. There will be no end in sight.

im not sticking up for Saddam, he was guilty, but i am not much for the death penalty regardless of who it is. I feel like killing a killer is just another murder, and lowering yourself to the level of the killer by killing him, performing the very same action he did to become branded a killer. does that not make the killer of a killer also a killer? lol.

I feel the question is very cut and dry: Have you killed a man yes or no? If yes, then person = a killer, someone who has killed.

While I hope and prey that this idiot was actualy snuffed out I reserve the freedom to question it untill I see the pro camera man's version.

Whenever that may be.

PPS.

I am SICK of SITTING. I am Waiting for the moment to rally. Or do I have to get up and start it myself?

Hajj pilgrimage draws to a close

However, some pilgrims said the Hajj was marred by the execution of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein on Saturday.

Sunnis in particular took exception to it being carried out on the most important festival in the Islamic faith.

Saddam's Daughter Protests Execution

AMMAN, Jordan — Saddam Hussein's eldest daughter briefly attended a protest against her father's execution on Monday, her first public appearance since he was hanged.

Raghad Saddam Hussein stopped in at the demonstration staged by the Professional Associations — a body that groups unions for doctors, engineers and lawyers — in its office parking lot in west Amman.

Raghad, who supervised her father's legal team, has lived in Jordan since shortly after Saddam's overthrow in April 2003. The Jordanian authorities have told her not to get involved in political activities.

Sunni party office hit in U.S. raid in Iraq

Jan 1, 2007 — BAGHDAD (Reuters) - U.S. forces said they were fired on from an office building belonging to a leading Sunni Arab politician during a raid on a suspected al Qaeda safehouse in Baghdad on Monday in which six insurgents were killed.

Saleh al-Mutlaq, an outspoken member of parliament whose Iraqi National Dialogue group is part of the U.S.-backed political process, said U.S. forces had targeted his office, killing two security guards and wounding two more.

SUNNI GRIEF, ANGER FLOW AT FUNERAL

BAGHDAD — Hundreds of supporters of Saddam Hussein broke curfew Sunday to pay respects at the tomb of the toppled Iraqi president, who was buried before daybreak in the small northern town where he was born.

At the funeral in Al Auja and across the Arab world, Hussein's fellow Sunni Muslims expressed outrage at his chaotic final moments, revealed in grainy footage circulated widely on the Internet and on television showing his execution at dawn Saturday in Baghdad.

The video, which appears to have been recorded with a cellphone, showed onlookers taunting Hussein with chants of "Muqtada! Muqtada! Muqtada!" a reference to radical Shiite Muslim cleric Muqtada Sadr, whose Al Mahdi militia is accused of hunting down Sunni Arabs and killing them. As the trapdoor snapped open beneath Hussein, some in attendance cheered, "The tyrant has fallen!"

St. Louis-area nurse recalls softer side of Saddam

Saddam told Ellis that cigars and coffee kept his blood pressure down, and it seemed to work. Saddam would insist that Ellis smoke with him.

At one point, Saddam went on a hunger strike, refusing to eat when the guards would slide food through the slot on the bottom of his door. But when they changed tactics and opened the door, he started eating again.

"He refused to be fed like a lion," Ellis said.

When he was allowed short visits outside, Saddam would feed the birds crusts of bread saved from his meals. He also watered a dusty plot of weeds.

"He said he was a farmer when he was young and he never forgot where he came from," Ellis said.

He said Saddam never gave him trouble, and didn't complain much – and if he did, it was usually legitimate.

"He had very good coping skills," Ellis said.

Gregg: Saddam execution a triumph of democracy

Saddam Hussein's execution is a "triumph of the democratic process" in Iraq, according to U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg.

"Hussein was tried before an Iraqi court and the decision was brought down by the will of the Iraqi people," Gregg said in a statement.

Chris Reid, who served as legal counsel to former governor Craig Benson, worked with the Iraqi tribunal and was involved in the investigation into the crimes of the former Iraqi leader.

"I'm glad it's bringing closure to some of the victims," he said. "Saddam was a tyrant who really has no comparison."

There is some news from today's sources.

We must remember despite all we've been told, and learned about Saddam, a human being was put to death, and faced his death admirably.

What is next in this very troubled chapter for Iraq?

Only time will tell.

I have watched someone die right in front of me of natural causes. Just an elderly person whos time was up. That did not bring one tear to my eye.

I saw my own son being born when he opened his tiny eyes and looked straight into mine that brought forth a river of tears of joy.

After reading your post I paused to wonder why that is? Why is it that a joyous occasion like the birth of my first born son made me cry while the death of someone else left me with no strong emotions at all. Am I too cold? to heartless?

I don't think your wrong at all for not wanting to see that video. I think I am wrong for wanting to see it in HD. What kind of a sicko am I that I think that I need to view the brutal death of a man?

That doesnt even chainge the fact that I still want to see the full unedited HD video of saddam falling to his death. I am so desensitized to horrible images that it envokes not one emotion in me save for the thrill of seing the life of annother human gone in an instant. but I am on the other hand so unused to the magic and awe of the healthy birth of a child that it takes me back and makes me weep.

and that is what is wrong with society today.

Just out of curiosity, why is his body hanging at a 90 degree angle?

I have saw numerous hanging/lynching pics and videos, and none of them hang and dangle at this odd angle?

Maybe the camera was just at some strange position to give it this effect,I dont know.

He did face his death admirably. I mean, he kept a straight face, recited his prayer once, got halfway through it the second time and then they dropped him after the word 'Muhammad' came out of his mouth in the prayer, but the prayer shouldve ended with "is his prophet". At least he said it fully through on the 1st time?

His dead face had some red marks on it, like he was roughed up, or it couldve just been blood under the skin when the hanging took place and caused by the hanging. But I cant help but think the Shiite officials and hangmen may have smacked him around prior to hanging him, or smacked around his dead body afterward. One of the two.

The muqtada sadr taunt was significant because he had sadr's father executed, and tried to execute sadr, but sadr fled. So naturally his followers are gonna be like "Whos the bitch now?" essentially, in more or less words.

Way to make Saddam a martyr, good job guys. Freakin idiots. I guess they really do want a civil war. To allow shiites to taunt him as he stood strong before his death was the dumbest thing they could have done. Regardless what anybody says, he took it like a man while the shiites acted like morons. Only one voice of reason was heard. Either way, even though he was killed, Saddam came out on top and you can bet he the sunnis will view him as a martyr and a hero who was lynched by shiites.
