Yes to prevent a possible mutiny by U.S troops the govt took this drastic decision.

Here is the latest article that states that the defense secretary visited iraq to quell possible mutiny.
www.globalresearch.ca...

This is my point of view.

The real reason is Iraqi law prevents execution to people over the age of 70. Sadamm would have turned 70 in April. Plus a quick execution prevents meddling by the United Nations and other authorites.

Saddam had to be executed soon after his sentencing because of the security situation in Iraq. If Saddam had remained in his cell the odds of him being busted out of jail or assassination would have increased.

Manchurian,

You ever serve in the military? Because if you did I can't imagine how the word "mutiny" ever spewed past your gums. It's unheard of and not even a possibility for our troops. Our military is not some third world militia. It's a well trained, well paid, well educated force. Save the mutiny talk for those 1700's wooden british ship fellows that flogged thier salts for forgetting to tie a good half-hitch knot. It's knot a word for the US military.

Mutiny?

Wow man - nice to know you have so little regard for the integrety of our troops.

And busting Saddam out of Jail? NOT GONNA HAPPEN. That would be a direct confrontation with the United States Army and Air Force.
