Irish government papers have revealed that several death threats were made in regards to JFK immediatly prior to his 1963 visit. These included all
manner of premeditated murder, from snipers on his motorcade to bombs on his return flight. In accordance with this, over 42% of the countries Gardia
were armed and positioned from the airport to where Kennedy was staying.
Granted, this story pales somewhat in comparison to the furor around his actual assassination, but an interesting peice of history it still
remains.
