JAKARTA, Indonesia - Heavy rains in parts of Malaysia and Indonesia unleashed floods that killed at least 20 people and forced 170,000 others to abandon their homes.

At least 13 people were killed and 14 others were missing in torrential rains that swept Indonesia's provinces of Aceh and North Sumatra, officials and news reports said Saturday. More than 80,000 villagers were forced from their homes in the two provinces.

Officials in southern Malaysia said heavy rains had killed seven people and displaced more than 90,000 others over the past week.

Anyone care to comment as to why this area f the world is receiving so many calamities? Asian Flood

It's because three of four Oceans meets South of it,

and the heaviest Land mass on the globe lies North of it,

thus creating thermo incidents where the eye of dynamics happens to be the equatorial region of the Indonesian Archipelago.

Something unusual with climate becomes more and more evident.

What happened to be a Once in a Century event becomes an event of every Decade, still adding on in frequency.

Khunmoon, yeah, the regularity of these events is what concerns me as well. Some say,ah, it only seems that way because we hear more about it now than we did fifty years ago. Well, it may be true that we hear more about it now, but it still doesn't account for the increased regularity of the events. I am sure that even though it wasn't always reported, the events were still recorded 50 years ago, and there seems to be quite a differentiation in regularity.
