LONDON, England (AP) -- A woman with two wombs has given birth to three children in what is believed to be the first case of its kind, a hospital official said Friday.

Hannah Kersey, 23, gave birth to three girls in September, said Richard Dottle, a spokesman for Southmead Hospital in Bristol where the triplets were born. The children spent nine weeks in the hospital but the reason was not disclosed.

The girls -- two identical twins delivered from one womb and a single baby from the other -- were born seven weeks early by Caesarean, the British Broadcasting Corp. reported.

Years ago I lived in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England.

I hung around with a few bands and music and we made a bit of a noise.
On one occasion at a band "meeting" (read p'ss up) in one of the many fine hostelries there, a member was telling us of a girl that he new of (I don't know how!!) had two shall we say ladies passages when she was born.

This remained the topic of conversation for the evening and fantasies ran wild, I will leave it to your imaginations but the thought that she could be Virgo intacta and also been going like a rattlesnake was the general gist.

Skip forward a bit. A work colleague got married to a lady known to the lads as mustache, owing to the fact she had hair on both sets of her lips if you know what I mean.

She fell pregnant and lost the child and nearly her life. Basically she lost the child and was packed off home. The couple were convinced something was not right and eventually in agony she was readmitted.

They eventually found out she had two wombs, both were originally pregnant and the second dead baby was still inside causing problems.
The husband not a patient man was all for spanking the doctor for not listening.

Now at the time we thought having two lady bits was rare, so we believed the lass the band discussed and the one that lost the babies were one and the same. However now seeing that its one in a thousand, I am not so sure.

Wonder if I will ever meet one

Two wombs and three kids? Interesting story.

But I'm more surprised at the 1:1000 chance of a women having 2 wombs! That's actually rather common.
