I went and saw "The Last Samurai" the other day. Anyone else see this one yet??

I Liked it! More than I thought I would in fact.

The story was pretty much what I figured it would be as far as how the movie would flow and everything. The way it was done and the way the Samurai lived and trained with their honor and everything was very well done. It does have some very good Battle Scenes too. Both Large scale and small. The movie moves along well also and keeps you interested the whole time.

Any chance u have read the book?

The book is brilliant...very close to the film and u can really imagine TC playing the lead.

I've not seen the film yet but it looks good!

Anyone read or seen Timeline yet?

Loved the book and cant wait to see the film 2morrow!

No, I never even knew there was a book first. Was any of it based off historical data??

The movie was very cool though.

Yeah...there was a book!

I think the author was Mark Ravina?

Its based on the historical data but also on the real events of that time.

Defenitly worth a read....local library should have it!

There is no doubt a historical basis in The Last Samurai, but, like all movies, Hollywood has probably butchered quite a bit of the Samurai's life.

I was actually agreably surprised by that movie. I don't particularly like Tom Cruise and I thought it would annoy me to watch such a long movie with him in the main role (huh...when is he NOT the main character anyway?!)

Anyway, I recommend it to anyone who likes samurais.
I haven't seen Shogun tho, I should try to check it out too.

I like the plot from what I know but I really dislike Tom Cruise. I mean, how the hell can any man dump Nicole Kidman?

I really hate him too. But I like the movie, so heh...
You should check it out anyway.

I don't like Kidman neither. She's not so pretty anyway (just my opinion) and she smokes. Heh.

Penelope Cruz is WAY hotter if you ask me.

Okay, I saw the film a couple of weeks ago. Quite impressive, but not perfect by any means. It's still going down on my "to buy when DVD comes out" list, though.

I give it a 4...out of 5.

I saw the movie...it was ok, not great, but not bad either... Extremely predictable, and entertaining, but likely because if it has knights, castles, etc. I'm pretty much happy....

I'd bet the book would fill in a lot of questions I had....so I plan on reading it... The time travel theory was done well, I'll give it that...though of course paradox is nicely side-stepped.....
