Tottenham boss Martin Jol has conceded that he did approach Chelsea with regards to the services of Carlton Cole.

The promising striker is currently on loan at fellow Premiership outfit Aston Villa but has endured somewhat of a barren spell in front of goal in recent weeks.

Speculation had suggested Jol was hopeful of persuading Cole to switch from West to North London and now the affable Dutchman has conceded that this was indeed the case.
