Sir Alex Ferguson feels Manchester United are being punished for their recent controversial penalty against Arsenal.
United were held 0-0 by local rivals City at Old Trafford but had two strong shouts for a penalty in the opening five minutes of the contest.
"Maybe it's the big game factor. European football represents a big game for them and maybe the mundane challenge of the Premier League is not the same.
"It's not championship form, you can't excuse it. The chances we are creating and then not taking them is not good enough."
