Manchester City manager Kevin Keegan has admitted that Claudio Reyna is still up to four weeks away from making a first-team return.

It had been hoped that the US international would be able to play against Chelsea this weekend but his groin injury is still troubling him.

It is the latest blow for Keegan who confirmed on Tuesday that Joey Barton would be sidelined for six weeks after being forced to have a groin operation.

"Claudio is two to three weeks away we think," Keegan told the club's official website.

"He has responded well to treatment but there are certain movements that he cannot do.

"We are now looking at a different rehab programme. We are saying two to three weeks but it could be nearer to three to four.

"He hasn't played games so that becomes a problem in terms of getting him back to match fitness.

"If you miss two weeks then you can get away with it, if you miss three then you are getting close to losing some match fitness.
