Vladimir Smicer has again stressed he had contact with Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City before signing for Bordeaux.
The Czech Republic international has agreed a two-year contract with Les Girondins after calling time on his Liverpool career. Smicer ended his stint
at Anfield on a high note as his goal helped the Merseysiders claw their way back into the UEFA Champions League final with Milan and he also
successfully converted his penalty in the shoot-out. Lens and Espanyol also targeted the 32-year-old, who continues to insist the interest from
Charlton was genuine, despite denials from the Londoners.
