Steven Gerrard is aiming to make up for his Carling Cup disappointment by reeling in city rivals Everton in The Premiership.

The midfielder's intervention 15 minutes from time turned the match around just as Liverpool seemed set to hang on for the trophy.

Liverpool star John Arne Riise has called on his side to overcome their Carling Cup heartache and concentrate on the league.

The Reds currently trail local rivals Everton by eight points in the race to finish in the coveted fourth place and a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League.

Riise believes they can still catch Everton and secure that lucrative fourth place finish as they have still to play their neighbours at Anfield later this month.
