Marcus Bent is ready to rival James Beattie for a starting place at Everton.

Bent had been a revelation for Everton as part of their surprise charge up the Premier League this season, but now finds his place under threat.

David Moyes prefers to play with a lone striker up front, and £6 million man Beattie has taken preference over Bent since his arrival.

I can't remember how much Bent cost but he is just as good as Beattie.

in fairness to bent? arent these two different kind of forwards. beattie is a big guy and alot stronger, more ariel threat and hehe....more clumsy with the ball at his feet.

Yea they are a bit different. But its goals that count for a striker and Bent has already proved himself at Everton. I guess Beattie has to be given a fair chance at it, but he wouldn't have been on my shopping list and not at that price...
