Charlton Athletic: Charlton awarded compensation

Charlton have been awarded £1.5million in compensation in their row with Chelsea over the loan of striker Carlton Cole.

Chelsea had agreed to loan striker Cole for another season as part of the negotiations in the £10million deal which took midfielder Scott Parker to Stamford Bridge in January.

But when Cole snubbed the move and went on loan to Villa for a season instead, the Addicks took the matter to Premier League lawyers and Chelsea were forced to agree a cash settlement.

Charlton were willing to take defender Robert Huth or England midfielder Joe Cole but Chelsea weren't interested, so the Blues backed down and agreed the compensation.
