Matt Jansen has revealed the chance to work with manager Sam Allardyce persuaded him to join Bolton Wanderers.

Allardyce has a reputation for being able to help talented players resurrect floundering careers and that is exactly the kind of aid Jansen was looking for after asking to be released from his contract at Blackburn Rovers. The 28-year-old striker's seemingly inevitable progress towards the England squad was halted by a serious motorcycle accident in 2002 and he subsequently started just 13 Premiership games for Rovers in three-and-a-half years.

Time may be running out for him, he looked a great propect and was playing really well, but the accident really put a downer on his career. Just hasn't looked the same, but if anyone can get him playing its Big Sam.

i never knew they signed him, am guesing he was a free.

So if it works it works, if not no great loss in money. The guy was cracking at blackburn when he was younger, but that was like at least 5 years ago. Then basically stinked the team out after he got injured.

But hey, he resueced Davies, so i expect him to do the same here. Even if he gets 6 months out of him
