Blackburn chief Mark Hughes is hot on the trail of veteran Bayern Munich central defender Thomas Linke.

But the German giants will only allow the 35-year-old to leave if Newcastle's attempts to sign fellow central defender Sammy Kuffour falter.

The Magpies are sounding out a move for Kuffour in which case Bayern would not be preapared to let both players depart in the January window.

it looks like the kuffor deal aint gonna happen, linke at 35. will he have the pace for the preimership. hes got great experience at high levels.
