Blackburn have stated their determination to keep Barry Ferguson at the club after the Scotland skipper was linked with a return to Rangers.

Reports in Scotland claim that Glasgow-born businessman Alistair Donald is set to plough more than £10million into Rangers - with former Ibrox favourite Ferguson apparently top of the wanted list when the transfer window opens in January.

Ferguson has had an unhappy time since signing for Blackburn for £7.5million little more than a year ago, as he missed much of last season with a knee injury and then saw Graeme Souness, the man who persuaded him to move south of the border, move to Newcastle.

However, new Rovers boss Mark Hughes appears to be trying to build his team around Ferguson in central midfield and Blackburn chief executive John Williams today insisted the 26-year-old is still very much part of their plans.

it would be very doubtfull rangers would buy him back, although there is talk of this guy pumping rangers into the club, they would need alot more than ferguson to make there team good.

i dont know for sure if it will be used for transfer money, you remember micheal ball, he dont get a game and its supposed to be as when they bought him, after so many appearences they have to pay another sum of money, something like 250 k, and they cant pay it so he dont get a game

Yeah he is one of the better players at Blackburn and i don't think they will let him go. 7.5 million? They would get that back if they did try to sell him....
