aston villa have launched a bid of 6 million for the striker

Villa have been tracking Beattie for some time, having failed in a move for the striker at the start of the season, and are hoping for a chance to negotiate terms.

"It's up to the club now to give us the authority to meet the boy and draw up a contract if he wishes to come," Ellis told BBC Five Live.
