Newcastle United manager Graeme Souness has hinted the club are unlikely to land Chelsea's Damien Duff, but stated he is of the calibre The Magpies want to acquire.

The North East giants have been linked with the former Blackburn Rovers star recently, who was out of favour under Jose Mourinho earlier this season.

However, the Republic of Ireland star has featured more prominently for The Blues of late and has played a key part in the side's domestic and European campaign.

Souness believes Duff is happy in London and it may prove too difficult a job prizing the star away from Stamford Bridge, even before piecing an attractive financial package together.

if this move did happen? am not sure what would happen with robert, although, it does show souness is after good players, duff is a good player and works his socks off, and has managed to force his way into the chelsea team.

Robert has been out of favour at Newcastle for ages.

Duff has got back to his form from a couple of seasons ago that made everyone stand up and take notice of him. It would be a massive signing if they did manage to do it...
