So glad the window has closed now until the summer at least YAK is still a Pompey player until the end of the season. See we got a hard fought win against Boro and Yak scored again! i think the transfer window gave him pressure thats why his form was crap, but now he will continue scoring.

mandaric sounds just as happy and glad drunk

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric has spoken of his relief that top goalscorer Yakubu Aiyegbeni is still at Fratton Park despite interest in the transfer window.

Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is a known admirer of the prolific 22-year-old and many had expected him to firm up his interest on Monday's deadline, especially given the departure of Craig Bellamy to Celtic.

However, no bid was forthcoming and the South Coast outfit have been able to hold onto their most valuable asset.

the player is happy the window is closed too

Portsmouth ace Yakubu Aiyegbeni has admitted he is glad the transfer window is now closed.

The Nigerian international will now stay at Fratton Park until the end of the season at least after months of speculation over his future.

Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Chelsea and Birmingham were all linked with the talented striker, but Yakubu insists he is happy to stay at Pompey and that he never planned to leave in January.
