Portsmouth have completed a double swoop for Lomana LuaLua and David Unsworth.

The duo passed medicals at the club on Monday.

Striker LuaLua, 23, joins from Newcastle after spending the final four months of last season on loan at Fratton Park where he forged a successful partnership with Aiyegbeni Yakubu.

He scored four goals in 10 starts as Portsmouth secured their Premiership survival with just one defeat in their last 10 games and manager Harry Redknapp has been keen to secure his services on a permanent basis.

The move has been expected since last Friday when a deal was announced to have been agreed with both the Congolese international and Newcastle.

Unsworth arrives at the south coast from Everton and will again link up with Redknapp, who managed the defender for a season at West Ham.

Git you beat me to it

2 good signings they have made so far and it looks like they are poised to complete a hat-trick of new signings in the next 48 hours when Preston striker Ricardo Fuller completes a 2million move to Fratton Park.

Fulham have made an offer for Portsmouth midfielder Amdy Faye.

Faye has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after an impressive debut season with Pompey last term.

Fulham boss Chris Coleman is a big fan of the powerful African ace and sees Faye as an ideal replacement for the departed Sean Davis.

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric will sell Amdy Faye to Fulham for a "fair price" if the midfielder attempts to wangle a pay rise.

Mandaric is prepared to allow the 27-year-old midfielder to join the Cottagers, saying: "If he asks for more money and Fulham come in with a fair price, we will sell him.

Ricardo Fuller's proposed 2million move to Portsmouth has fallen through after the Preston striker failed a medical.

Pompey decided to pull out of the deal to sign the Jamaican forward after taking advice from two medical sources, according to Portsmouth's official website.

The Barclays Premiership club insisted on carrying out a thorough medical examination of Fuller, who has struggled with a knee injury during his two years at Deepdale.

Dundee have completed a permanent deal for Neil Barrett, after the midfielder secured his release from Portsmouth.

Portsmouth have stepped up their search for a new midfielder after learning Amdy Faye is facing a long lay-off.

The 26-year-old suffered a recurrence of an old knee problem while playing for Senegal this summer.

A proposed 3m move to Fulham broke down this month when he failed his medical and he is still not fit.

Portsmouth Football Club have been given the go-ahead to redevelop their stadium to a capacity of 35,000. At a public meeting in the Guildhall on Wednesday, Portsmouth City Council voted in favour of the proposal which will cost about 125million.

The development will include 500 houses, shops, restaurants and leisure facilities at Fratton Park with 14% of the homes being social housing.

Pompey hope the money made from the project will offset the stadium cost.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has ruled out making a possible move for West Ham star Michael Carrick. Reports have claimed that Redknapp is lining up a 3 million bid for the classy midfielder who he had under his charge during his time at Upton Park

Harry Redknapp has insisted that his trip to watch West Ham United take on Anderlecht was to take in some of the Belgian club's players and not Michael Carrick. His presence at a West Ham game inevitably fuelled rumours of a move - but Redknapp explained that he did not need to see Carrick in action.

Portsmouth have tabled a club record bid, thought to be more than 2million, for West Ham's England midfielder Michael Carrick.

And Pompey chairman Milan Mandaric is also ready to pick up the cost of adding Blackburn striker Dwight Yorke to a squad which manager Harry Redknapp fears would, without new blood, be fighting a Barclays Premiership relegation battle next season.

Redknapp, who has so far only managed to sign Lomana LuaLua for 1.8million and free transfer pair David Unsworth and Andy Griffin, wants to sign Yorke.

Anderlecht striker Aruna Dindane has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Portsmouth, insisting he wants to move to England.

Portsmouth are keen on the Ivory Coast international and Harry Redknapp was an interested observer as Anderlecht drew with West Ham last weekend.

The South Coast outfit have had a bid rejected by Anderlecht for the powerful striker as they look to bolster their attacking options.

Anderlecht do not want to lose Dindane, but the player is keen to leave Belgium and try his luck in a bigger league like The Premiership.

Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric fears Arsenal may scupper the club's record bid to sign Michael Carrick, although Pompey have been doing a spot of gazumping of their own.

The South Coast side appeared to be winning a chase with Everton and Crystal Palace for Carrick, only for tales of a late interest from champions Arsenal to worry Mandaric and manager Harry Redknapp.
