Barcelona midfielder Gerard has admitted that he has contact with Monaco boss Didier Deschamps.

The Spanish midfielder is out of contract at Camp Nou in the summer and has yet to be offered a fresh deal by Frank Rijkaard.

Mark van Bommel's arrival from PSV Eindhoven will further limit Gerard's chances of first team football.

this guy is an alright player, a good passer of the ball. i think hes plays in the central of midfield and barca have loads of players in that position.

with van bommel coming in, like the article says he aint going to feature much.

i think monaco would be a good move, and that he would suit the team

Spurs want him too?

Tottenham are believed to have made a late bid to try and snatch Barcelona midfielder Gerard from the clutches of Monaco.

The 26-year-old is to leave Camp Nou on a free transfer as his contract expires at the end of June.

He never really justified the €20 million Barca spent to prise him back from Valencia in the summer of 2000, and played only a bit-part role in the club's title success this term.
